We are very excited to be finding out lots about Space and the first moon landing. We will even be designing and building our own models of moon buggies!
In English we will be reading the story Man in the Moon and exploring other space stories to help us write our own story about a trip to the moon. We will also be reading and writing poems about space. We will be writing instructions using the book Scaredy Squirrel Makes a Friend to help us.
In Maths we will be adding and subtracting numbers within 50 and finding out about halves and quarters. We will also be investigating length and weight and talking about standard units.
In Computing we will be using the internet to research facts about space and the first moon landing.
In Science we will be naming and describing different materials and working out how to sort them.
In History we will be finding out about the first moon landing.
In PE we will be developing our gymnastic skills and finding different ways to travel and use apparatus safely. We will also be developing a sequence of dance moves inspired by space songs and music.
In Music we will be learning and enjoying songs. We will be learning some new ones relating to space.
In D&T we will be designing our own model moon buggies and then working in a small group to make one and how to use wheels and axles. We will be thinking about what went well with our models and what didn't go quite so well.
In RE we will be thinking about how people look after each other and also about giving something up for love.
Our Eco-theme this half term is understanding how to use materials carefully and learning about the 3 Rs - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
